Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is our great honor to invite you to the International Conference on Metabolic Science (ICMS 2016) co-organized by the State Key Laboratory of Microbial Metabolism (SKLMM) at Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU), COFCO and the Division of Bioprocess and Bioseparation Engineering (BBE), Asian Federation of Biotechnology (AFOB). While metabolic science is to understand and elucidate fundamentals for developing robust biocatalysts, bioprocess engineering is to ultimately explore their capacities for production, particularly at low cost and large scale to foster bioindustry and address challenges for sustainable socio-economic development, making the two disciplines complementary and indispensable. Therefore, the theme of ICMS 2016 is Metabolic Science: Driving Bioindustry and Beyond.
The Scientific Program includes Plenary and Keynote Lectures presented by 30+ prestigious scientists who are world-class leaders in metabolic science and bioprocess engineering. About 30 oral presentations will be selected from submitted abstracts for authors to report their research progress for comments from prestigious scientists who are invited to chair the 14 scientific sessions. All posters will be evaluated by a committee and excellent posters will be certificated and awarded with book vouchers (each with US$ 200) sponsored by the publishers Elsevier and Wiley. In addition, a celebration workshop will be held in conjunction with ICMS 2016 in honor of Prof. Murray Moo-Young for his great contribution to the Elsevier journal Biotechnology Advances as the Editor-in-Chief for 33 years from 1983 to 2015. Internationally reputable journals Biotechnology Advances (Elsevier) and Biotechnology Journal (Wiley) will publish special issues for these events. The Social Program is complementary for all registered participants, providing good opportunities for networking to develop collaborations.
As the largest city in China and the center of Yangtze River Economic Development Delta, Shanghai is very dynamic in finance, trade and high-tech industry development, particularly for bio-related sectors such as healthcare and biopharmaceuticals. Shanghai is also a historic city with many cultural heritages and tour attractions such as the Bund along Huangpu River in the downtown and nearby ancient water towns with a history of more than 1,500 years.
We look forward to welcoming you in October 2016 for an exciting ICMS 2016. We also hope you enjoy your visit to Shanghai.
